JOHN DAY A NASA exhibit from the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry in Portland will make a one-month stop at the Grant County Library, starting this Thursday, as part of a tour of libraries throughout Eastern Oregon.
The Magic Planet globe features colorful displays of the Earths city lights, climate change, tsunamis, wind streams, ocean currents, geographic and topographic features, and more. Also included are seven-minute videos about Earth that are projected onto the globes surface.
The globe sits on top of a projector, connected to a laptop programmed by NASA, to show dozens of moving images and programs as the Earth lights up and spins.
Nate Lesiuk, program developer for OMSIs Earth from Space program, said, The Magic Planet is amazing and captivates the senses.
The one were bringing out to Eastern Oregon is a smaller version of the huge Science on a Sphere exhibit weve had here at the museum in Portland, Lesiuk said.
The Eastern Oregon tour is made possible through a NASA grant provided to OMSI, in collaboration with Libraries of Eastern Oregon.
