White City, Ore.– Boating season is just around the corner and people can now get a head- start on inspection.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Marine Division and U.S. Coast Guards conducted boat inspections this weekend at the White City facility.
They were checking to make sure boat owners had all safety gear that is required.

Deputy Jason Denton said, “We’ll make sure that they have current registration on their boat, we’ll make sure that they have life jackets, whistles, and fire extinguishers. And make sure that the boat is in proper working order so that when they do get out there when the weather is nice like today they have everything.”
Denton said if you aren’t up to par with your boat you could be fined with a ticket between $100.00 and $400.00 once boating season starts.
The Sheriffs’ department will be holding boat inspections next weekend as well.
