Brookings, Ore. –

This summer, the Brookings City Manager says work will begin on their Waste Water Treatment Plant. Over the phone, he tells us that’s because the plant is located next to a slow moving landslide and the earth won’t stop shifting.

“We received about $300,000 in grant money to help with the cost of the project, and it’s about a $900,000 dollar project,” Gary Milliman.

A retaining wall with pylons that reach through bed rock will be installed sometime this summer.

Milliman says the city now contracts out for geo-technical surveying before new developments along hillsides. The surveys test soil safety and likelihood of erosion.
