Teaching inspiration recognized

LA GRANDE – Daryl Ann Waltenburg, 2013 Dayville High School graduate, knows teaching inspiration when she sees it.

Waltenburg nominated Dayville history teacher Skip Inscore to receive an Inspiration Teacher Award from Eastern Oregon University. He is one of 12 educators from Oregon, Idaho and Montana to receive the honor.
Inscore, who has taught at Dayville for 31 years, said he was caught off guard when he got the letter from EOU, adding, “It was a great privilege to have been selected by Daryl Ann for the award.
“Any time you are recognized by a former student, it’s quite an honor.”

He said Waltenburg is a conscientious student with “great study habits, and high moral and academic standards.”
First-year honor students at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande were given the opportunity to nominate teachers who had influenced them on their journey to higher education.
EOU presents the awards annually in recognition of outstanding area teachers.
