The National Weather Service anticipates a wet weekend for Oregon. The rainstorms could lead to additional landslides in some areas of the state.

Dangerous places include canyon bottoms, stream channels, and bases of steep hillsides. That’s according to the Oregon Department of Geology and Mineral Industries.

The National Weather Service is watching some rivers, but none are expected to reach flood stage at this time.

Andy Bryant is with the National Weather Service. He says the state should get rain at all elevations.

“If you’re going to be out and about, it might be good to have some kind of covering. I know it’s not cool to carry an umbrella in Oregon, but it might be handy ’cause it’s gonna’ be maybe some breaks for a little bit, but then could be some heavy showers.”

Bryant says some of the areas that are in drought have seen improvement because of recent wet weather. But, he says, counties that rely primarily on a snowpack for water are still hurting.
