Prospectors lose close game to Rockets

PILOT ROCK – A 1-point lead slipped away from Grant Union in their April 29 game against Pilot Rock/Nixyaawii, and they took the 6-7 loss.
It was a pitchers’ duel in the first two innings of play with both teams scoreless.
Rayce Houser homered in the third, and the Pros added three more points to the board when Reimers and Manitsas scored off Justin Gravley’s two-run single and Gravley scored with Khol Goin’s single.
The Rockets made a comeback in the bottom of the inning, tying the score at 4.
Pilot Rock pushed ahead by 2, scoring one in the fourth and fifth.
The Prospectors added 3 to take a 7-6 lead in the top of the sixth inning, but couldn’t hold off the Rockets as they rallied with two additional runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Rockets held the Prospectors at bay in the top of the seventh for the win.
Grant Union pitcher Lane Williams had 10 strikeouts; Dalton Reimers also took the mound for less than an inning.
Grant Union had nine hits and seven errors, and Pilot Rock had seven hits and one error.
Grant Union travels to Union Friday for a noon game, and hosts Joseph/Enterprise for a doubleheader at noon Saturday.
