PRAIRIE CITY – Three students were inducted into the Prairie City High School chapter of the National Honor Society last week.

Sophomores Amaya Zweygardt, Garrett Hitz, and Brandon Gillihan recited the membership pledge, vowing to uphold standards of academic excellence and personal conduct. They were led in the pledge by chapter president Chase McClung.

Friends and relatives attended the ceremony, held at the Outpost Restaurant in John Day.

The National Honor Society, with more than 15,000 local chapters, requires its members to carry out service projects that benefit the school and community. Students are selected on the basis of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
