CANYON CITY – Volcanoes were erupting left and right as Humbolt Elementary second-graders in Jan Curtis and Karen Broemeling’s second grade classes presented their creations at a recent open house at the school.

Parents and other family members and friends visiting enjoyed the display and other special projects each grade had to offer.

Fourth-graders launched their handmade catapults in the rain while other classes displayed science and art projects, and more. The event ended with Principal Monty Nash announcing winners of themed baskets for an artist-in-residence and library book fund-raiser for the school.
