JOHN DAY – There’s a new eye doc in town.
Dr. David Archibald took over John Day Eye Care last April, following the departure of Dr. Benjamin Moore, who headed up the business for five years.
Clients will find the same staff – Ashley Labhart handling receptionist and billing duties, and optician Terri Hart – ready to assist with eye care needs.
“I am excited to work with great employees who care about their patients,” Dr. Archibald said.
Services offered include full-scope eye care such as routine exams; care with glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataract surgery and LASIK procedures; ocular trauma, contact lenses, eyewear, sunglasses, safety frames and more.
Dr. Archibald also plans to continue having Dr. Mitchell Brinks provide surgical procedures on a routine basis.
“We are excited to continue to add technology and equipment to modernize and improve care,” Dr. Archibald said.
A “proud Buckeye,” Dr. Archibald received his doctorate of optometry degree from Ohio State University, and prior to that, his bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah.
A member of the Florida and Oregon optometric associations, he practiced in Florida before coming to John Day.
He and his wife of 12 years, Camilla, have three daughters age 8, 6 and 4, and an 8-month-old son.
“We’re excited to put down roots here in John Day,” he said, adding, “it seems like an ideal community to raise my four young children.
Archibald said he loves the outdoors, and grew up with mountains and trout fishing. After living back East, wanted to return to a place that felt like home.
“I’m hoping to receive tips on steelhead trout fishing and good camping sites nearby,” he said.
John Day Eye Care is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. on Fridays, and closed Saturdays and Sundays.
The office is at 401 W. Main St., Suite A in John Day.
