Explosion rocks Mt. Vernon Motel

- An explosion and fire was reported this morning at the Mt. Vernon Motel.
MT. VERNON – Reports of a loud explosion and flames and black smoke from the Mt. Vernon Motel on Highway 395 came in around 10:30 a.m.

Emergency responders and an air ambulance were en route, with a report that at least one person was injured.
John Day Dispatch reports that Highway 395 North is closed in Mt. Vernon.
