IRVINE, Calif. – Everett Knox “Knoxie” Gohring, 72, formerly of John Day, died Oct. 8 in Irvine, Calif. No services will be held.

Mr. Gohring was born March 15, 1942, in Portland, to Henry “Hank” and Phyllis “Anna” (Knox) Gohring.

He attended school in John Day, and graduated from Grant Union High School in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army, and was stationed in Germany. While there, he married Irene Remy, with whom he had two sons.

He worked as a salesman most of his life. He enjoyed car racing, driving and road trips, cooking, and good cigars.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene, of Irvine, and her two daughters; his former wives, Irene Gohring of Herne, Germany, and Brenda Gohring; sons, Michael of Frankfurt, Germany, and Markus of Virginia Beach, Va.; brothers, Bill (Janet) of John Day and Jim (Jackie) of Rockaway Beach; granddaughters, Dian and Amy Gohring, and Ryan Gohring, all in Germany; and niece, Stephanie (Brett) Hurliman of Tillamook, and her children, Shayla and Stella Rose.
