DAYVILLE – Folks in Dayville really seem to know how to put the “fun” in fundraising.

Scarecrow and dessert contests, bag silent auction, and a potluck dinner were all part of the town’s second annual Dayville Fall Community Potluck held Oct. 23 in the town’s community hall.

Winners in the fall dessert contest, which drew 12 entries, were: Ruthie Moore, first place, apple dumplings; and Sharon Jones, second place, berry pie.

Scarecrow contest winners were: Michael Lesen and Tiffnie Schmadeka, first place; South Fork Gas and Mini Market, second place; and Ilah Bennett, third place.

For the silent auction, area businesses and individuals donated 20 bags and boxes, which in most cases, concealed, or barely gave hints as to the prizes awaiting inside.

About 75 people attended the event, which raised $339 toward the hall’s renovation fund.
