HERMISTON – Eleven Grant County Special Olympics athletes have pinned down bowling this season.

The group participated in regional games at Hermiston’s Desert Lanes bowling alley.

Their head coach Jamie Benton said the athletes came away with five total medals, gold, silver and bronze, as well as ribbons.

Competing individually, the bowlers took on the lanes in various skill-level categories.

“They did a really good job and had a great time,” Benton said. “It was a joy coaching them.”

Other coaches helping this year included: Kathy Gill, Ashley Wyllie, David Gill and Christina Wenzel.

Athletes included: Jay Colson, Harvey Davis, Crystal Wimberley, Bill Pauley, Pam Ellis, Brian McKrola, Michael Corp, Rodney Brunson, Travis Estes, Billy Scott Howland and Liz Swarthout.
