SPRAY – The Spray Rodeo was voted Best Independent Rodeo of the Year by the Northwest Professional Rodeo Association for 2014.

The NPRA holds 30 rodeos each year, mainly in Oregon and Washington, with a wide range of contestants from the Northwest.

The Spray Rodeo qualified for the honor as one of the highest paid out rodeos, competing against larger towns such as The Dalles, Philomath, and Vancouver and Enumclaw, Wash.

Other categories include, smaller rodeos, with a fair or independent, and medium prize money, with a fair or independent.

Spray previously won the award in 2008 and 2012.

“It is an honor to win it again,” said rodeo official Joann Griffith.

“A lot of hard work goes into putting on a rodeo, but a lot of credit goes to sponsors and spectators who make it possible for us to be able to afford the best stock contractors, announcer, contract acts, and to put up enough prize money to draw the best contestants in the Northwest,” she added.

The 2015 Spray Rodeo is set for Memorial Day Weekend, May 23-24.
