HARPER, Kan. – Stanley Boyd Stout, 87, formerly of John Day, died Nov. 9, in Harper, Kan. Military graveside services were held Nov. 13 at Forest Park Cemetery in Anthony, Kan.
Mr. Stout was born June 6, 1927, in Wichita, Kan., to Howard and Myrtle (Page) Stout. He had two sisters, Doris Jean Straughan and Julia Carole Opel.
He attended Harper County Rural Grade Schools, and graduated from Anthony High School in 1945.
After graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy.
He returned to Anthony, and married Norma E. Hatfield on Aug. 24, 1946.
They moved to Wichita where he attended Wichita State University. In the summer of 1948, they moved to Anthony until late August, when they moved to Eugene so he could attend the University of Oregon.
After he graduated in 1951 with a degree in accounting, he served a two-year apprenticeship. They couple then moved to John Day where they owned a certified public accounting business. They lived in John Day until 2010, when they retired back to Anthony.
In December 2013, his health required that he move to Heritage Assisted Living in Harper, and then the Harper Hospital Long Term Care Unit.
Survivors include his son, Gary (Tammy), and their daughters, Nicole and Kayla, of Aurora, Ill.; Gary’s daughters from a previous marriage, Jessica and Richelle; son, HB II (Debi) of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; several pets, his “grand animals”; and several relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma on Aug. 4, 2013; and a sister, Jean.
