- Moss “purses” are lined to make an interesting planter for the patio or deck, available at Len's.
Garden aficionados don’t really quit for the winter – they just put their tools away and start planning for spring.
For those folks, yard and garden items make great Christmas gifts. While some stores tuck their yard decor and goods away for winter, most still have some good options that would delight on Christmas Day and add a nice touch to anyone’s yard.
Here’s a look at some of the local offerings:
• What looks like a garden shovel or pitchfork is really a frame for a series of planter pots. Fill the pots with soil and blooming plants, stick it in the garden and you’ve got a whimsical piece of garden art. This Giftcraft item is available at Ace Hardware for about $20.99.
• Birds make the garden sing, and what better way to attract them than a feeder? This KayTee feeder includes a main compartment for conventional seed plus two wire basket for suet feeders. It goes for $24.95 at Pioneer Feed and Farm Supply.
• A metal ring turns a backyard fire pit into a cozy outdoor camp, perfect for cool spring and summer nights. Wildlife-shaped cutouts give an outdoorsy glow to the scene. This one, by Landman, goes for $29.99 at John Day True Value.
• Grant County yards draw wildlife of many sizes and types – To encourage squirrels, birds, even deer, try a Nutrena NatureWise wildlife-watcher block, or two. The price is just $12.50 at Gibco.
• Watering cans, winter plants, and more are available at Len’s Drug – but how about a moss covered planter shaped like a purse. A trio of sizes from SuperMoss.com makes a fun set, at $19.99.
