Seneca receives Level 1 evacuation notice

SENECA — Seneca residents are being given a Level 1 evacuation notice by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s dispatch confirmed at 5:45 p.m. today the notice was being delivered throughout the town.

Level 1 is an alert that residents may be told to evacuate their homes. Residents with special needs should begin making arrangements to evacuate.

The Canyon Creek Complex fire is most active in the southeast flank, which is considered a priority, according to a U.S. Forest Service official. The fire crossed onto private land near Dry Soda Lookout in Bear Valley. Fire crews are working day and night shifts to establish a fire line around it. They are using air drops and digging line.
