- Commercial air service coming to John Day?
JOHN DAY — Air travelers might someday be able to fly in and out of Grant County Regional Airport in John Day.
A meeting to discuss bringing commercial air service to John Day will be held from 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday, April 6, at the airport.
Mitch Swecker, director of the Oregon Department of Aviation, will be on hand, gathering information to determine what kind of rural service is needed here.
Officials said the aircraft would most likely be a 10-passenger plane, which would network with other cities in Eastern Oregon. Passengers would undergo a “reverse screening” process, meaning they would have to go through security at the other end of the flight.
