Natural Resource Camp is back for 2016!
Campers will stay at Lake Creek Youth Camp and enjoy three days of fun activities, games and natural resource workshops. Activities include volleyball, horseshoes, geocaching, wildlife tracking, hiking, mountain biking and campfires with s’mores. Campers will also have the opportunity to explore the Strawberry Wilderness, nearby waterways, a National Forest allotment and an active timber sale.
Teens will learn about fire ecology, rangeland management, timber harvesting and stream morphology from a diverse set of local natural resource professionals, including private contractors, permit holders, agency personnel and watershed councils. Campers will team up to develop collaborative forest management solutions with their new-found knowledge and partnerships.
The camp is June 27-30. Youth going into seventh through ninth grades are eligible to enroll, and the registration deadline is June 1.
Registration sheets are available at each school in Grant County or at the OSU Extension office, 530 E. Main St., Ste. 10, John Day, OR 97845.
