Grant Union has 72-14 showdown in Enterprise

The Grant Union Prospectors blasted the Enterprise Outlaws Friday night with a 72-14 win.

“I’m really proud of the guys,” said Grant Union head coach Jason Miller. “They came out and played physical.”

The Prospectors owned the field from the start, dominating with a 36-6 lead at halftime.

“We didn’t wait for someone else to play,” Miller said. “We came ready to play and imposed our will.”

Quarterback Wade Reimers and running back Cameron Hallgarth led in rushing yards for the night.

To end the game, Grant Union’s Eli Carniglia picked up an Outlaw fumble that he passed to Russell Hodge, who ran it for a touchdown.

“Defense played tough and made some big plays — five turnovers,” Miller said, adding, “Our O-line was phenomenal.”

Grant Union hosts the Union Bobcats at 7 p.m. Friday for their final regular season game.

Union beat Imbler 22-12 on Friday. Union and Grant Union both hold a 2-0 league record.

Grant Union, ranked No. 7 for OSAA 2A teams, is 4-3 overall. They have a total of 242 points scored on the season and 171 points allowed.

Union, ranked No. 12, is 4-2 overall. They have 135 points scored on the season and 104 allowed.

Miller said of Union, “If we can shut them down on offense, I like our chances.”
