Electric co-op announces scholarship, youth tour dates

Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative is accepting scholarship and Washington, D.C., Youth Tour applicants from Grant, Baker, Harney and Union counties.

High school students, returning students and adults entering educational and technical programs can apply for the co-op’s annual scholarship program. Two linemen scholarships and 26 academic scholarships will be awarded to applicants. Each scholarship is $5,000, and eight of the 26 academic scholarships are earmarked for returning college students.
Starting Nov. 7, high school juniors can apply for a one-week, all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., to celebrate the 2017 Rural Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. The trip will be held from June 9-15.
To apply, students can visit their local co-op office or otecc.com/community/community to download the applications. The deadline is 5 p.m. on Jan. 13. Scholarship and youth Tour recipients will be notified mid-April.
