Everyone loves horses and country music. For Oregon State University Student Briana Renea the marriage between the two has a special meaning. They hold prominent places in her life, and her competitive nature has led her to excel in both.
The popular Oregon country singer and songwriter, a staple at fairs, including the Grant County Fair in 2016, and festivals throughout the northwest, will celebrate the release of her third EP, “Chasin’ Trouble” on June 16th.
Her bull-riding single “Widow Maker” was recently selected for use in the Northwest Pro Rodeo Association finals commercial. It’s no surprise. She understands that culture well. In 2016 Briana earned the title of Reserve Champion, Region 6 Non-Pro Rider in the Western States Stock Horse Association.
Renea co-wrote all of the songs on “Chasin’ Trouble” and recorded it at Watershed Studio in Nashville, TN. “I have been extremely blessed to work with wonderful, experienced songwriters such as Steve Mitchell, Dee Briggs, Mason Douglas and Jason Wyatt” she recalls. “They have helped shape and guide my music”.
“I write and sing about my real life experiences. My musical style was greatly influenced by my childhood growing up on 80s rock and 90s country. Because of this, when I write I tend to blur the line between rock and country. The songs, “There’s This Guy” and “Chasin’ Trouble” were written with summer in mind and the need for a summer anthem that girls could turn up and sing along to.”
Her song “Dirt Side” off of her debut EP, “Red Lips, White Lies”, was chosen for the top 12 Best of NSAI Spring Training award. As a result, she was invited by NSAI to share the stage with other top songwriters during the infamous Tin Pan South Festival. She was also invited to perform her EP “Red Lips, White Lies” at Nashville’s famous Bluebird Café during the Chick Singer Night. Her hard work continues to pay off. The title track off the forth-coming EP, “Chasin’ Trouble” placed in the Top 40 for the Nashville Songwriters Association International’s (NSAI) second quarter of 2016.
This summer Renea will once again bring her high-energy concerts to Oregon and Washington fairs and festivals. In the past she has shared the stage with notable acts such as Joe Nichols, Old Dominion, Canaan Smith and Sammy Kershaw.
She will be holding her CD release party at Bushwhackers bar and grill in Tualatin, June 16th, from 9:00pm – 1:00am. The EP will be available on all major digital outlets. For her full schedule check out her website at BrianaRenea.com.
