Shooting club hosts long-range competition

The Bear Creek Shooting Club is holding a Long Range Steel Shoot from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29.
This is the second year the club has held the event at the Bear Creek Shooting Range, located between Prairie City and John Day.
Competitors will take aim at targets from a range of 200 yards to 1,100 yards, with most participants using a .308 or 6.5-mm rifle.
The cost to enter is $20, and participants should bring their own ammunition and gear.
Entry fee funds will be split between the first-, second- and third-place finishers.

To find the range from John Day, travel east on Highway 26 about 9 miles and turn left (north) on a dirt road, just before County Road 18 (Keeney Forks Road). The range is a short distance farther.
