Hedevig “Hedy” J. Page, 92, of John Day passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 29. A memorial service was held Aug. 7 at Driskill Memorial Chapel.

Page was born March 10, 1925, to John and Anina Christensen in Bethel, South Dakota, where she grew up on a farm during the Great Depression. She married Dell Page on July 28, 1946, and they owned and operated a very successful well-drilling business in Veneta until their retirement to John Day in 1996.

She enjoyed her family, a wide circle of longtime friends and working with Dell on the never-ending landscaping and home improvement projects. She was an excellent cook; her Danish upbringing ensured you would never leave her house feeling hungry. She was quick-witted, kind-hearted and always had a sweet smile. In her later years, she worked endlessly on jigsaw puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Dell, in 2010; and her brother Carsten Christensen.

She is survived by daugher Carol of John Day; son Wayne of Veneta; granddaughter Katrina; and one great-granddaughter.
