Alan Hatley passed away at Blue Mountain Hospital in John Day on May 2, 2018. Alan was born on April 26, 1941 to Gwendola V. and Ralph G. Hatley in Baker City, Oregon. He grew up around Boring and Twickenham, and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1959.

Alan served in the United States Army from 1963-66. He married Etta Hunt on July 3, 1975.

Alan worked for the Oregon Department of Transportation for 27 ½ years, retiring in 1998. Alan enjoyed fishing, hunting, crabbing, family drives through the forest, and weekend visits with family in Galena. Alan is preceded in death by his wife, Etta; his brother, Danny Hatley; and his stepson, Michael Ferrel. Alan is survived by his daughters, Melissa Hatley of Bend, Oregon and Lisa Hatley Nasr (Basim) of Bend, Oregon; son, Casey Hatley (Amy Spangler-Hull) of Monument, Oregon; stepdaughter, Michele Engle (Chad) of Monument, Oregon; and grandchildren, Jordan Hull, Alexys Hull, Jayce Hatley, Addison Hatley, Jayla Hatley, Sayla Nasr, Nico Nasr and step-grandchildren, Garrett Warner and Payton Warner.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Friends of the Sumpter Valley Dredge through Driskill Memorial Chapel in John Day.

There will be a celebration of life, please come and share memories at 11am on Saturday June 9th in the Monument City Park, with potluck to follow at the senior center.
