Grant Union spikers to host Bonanza Saturday

Staff photo by Annie Fowler The Grant Union Prospectors won the Blue Mountain Conference district volleyball title Saturday for the fourth consecutive year.

The Grant Union Prospector volleyball team will host the Bonanza Antlers for the first round state playoff game at 2 p.m. Saturday in John Day.

Cost for admission is $8 for adults and $5 for students, from age 5 to high school senior.

Grant Union won the Blue Mountain Conference district championship Saturday, their fourth consecutive title.

The defending state champion Prospectors are ranked No. 2 among OSAA’s 2A teams and hold a 25-4 overall record and 12-0 in league.

Bonanza is No. 15 in the OSAA and finished second in the Southern Cascade League. The Antlers are 14-7 overall and 12-2 in league.

Grant Union has won 70 sets and lost 18.

Bonanza has won 44 sets and lost 21.

Grant Union fans are asked to wear school colors to the game.
