“The littles are catching on quick,” said Grant County head coach Steve Parsons. “They’re winning about 65 to 75 percent of their matches. It’s really good for a small team.”
Tye Rookstool and Zane Rookstool are Parsons’ assistant coaches, and others help at practices, including dads and moms.
The coach said feedback from the tournament has been positive.
“We had a lot of great help from the community,” Parsons said.
He said Sherry and Lenny Dowdy ran the hospitality room, and high school wrestlers volunteered as referees. Jessica Knowles, Shilo Harper, Heather Rookstool and Stephanie Parsons assist with the weigh-ins, stats and communicating information to the parents at the tournaments.
“Overall it went well,” the coach said, adding he couldn’t do it without all the help.
