Prairie City School District held a strategic planning meeting Aug. 22 to discuss ways to improve the learning experience for students.

The purpose of the strategic plan is to create a definitive direction our school want to go by creating three goals for the next five years. These goals are measurable and can range from a wide variety of topics, i.e. facilities, curriculum, behavior, attendance, and social/emotional. Creating a strategic plan also allows accountability towards these goals. We have 15 community members on our team. These community member range from local business owners, rancher/farmers, military, parents, students, school staff, and clergy. The diversity of this group is its strength and having their voices lead these conversations is what will make our school even better throughout the continuing year.

What we are trying to accomplish here at Prairie City School District is to get back to what made this school special when they first opened the doors in the early 1900’s. Think about it, some amazing people way back then thought of the importance to why a school should be available for the kids of Prairie. We want to get back to these roots and having the community be a part of this make it special.

We discussed core values, mission statement and vision statement.

Jerry Colonna, Casey Hallgarth, Stacie Holmstrom, Shaelyn Bice, Jill Wright, Sue Thompson, Becky Sharp, Keith DeHart, Jared Horrell, doug Emmel, Jenny Workman, and Jessika Winegar.
