Garrett Carniglia, a third generation Grant County native, said he loves the fact that the forest is right in your backyard in Grant County.

Third-generation Grant County native, Garrett Carniglia’s Snowmobile is a fixture on the back of his pickup truck during the winter months.

Carniglia, a mobile mechanic, clocks thousands of miles, no matter the season and winter is no exception.

“It (snowmobile) doesn’t come off the back of my rig this time of year,” Carniglia said. “My job takes me all over the place, and sometimes I don’t know where I’ll end up.”

Carniglia is the vice president of Grant County Snowballers, a club of roughly 30 families.

Carniglia, a member since 2015, said the club grooms and maintains the nearly 860 miles of trails for varying levels of exerience.

Carniglia and his wife Emma live on the Frying Pan Ranch in Canyon Creek where he was born and raised.

“Growing up on ranch taught me about responsibility and respect,” he said. “We’re up first thing in the morning to take care of things and you can’t put things off until the next day.”

He loves every aspect of small-town life, especially the proximity to outdoor activities.

“Our forest access is right out of our backdoor.”

Carniglia said he enjoys other outdoor activities in the area during other seasons.

“The forest and trails don’t close for the season after the snow melts,” he said. “There is always something to do here and you want to take advantage of it.”
