To the editor:
I recently renewed my subscription and wanted to commend you on your coverage of Native issues. Your publication has updated me on what the Warm Springs Tribe is doing in their ceded lands, I heard from Louie Pitt telling everyone how our Native community was struck by the loss of our friend and colleague due to COVID-19 and most recently enjoyed the half-page piece on my fellow tribal member, Chuck Sams.
Additionally, GO! Eastern Oregon does well covering regional happenings including the Josephy Center (I am on the board of trustees) and news about the artist Tom Dimond, who taught me how to make glass beads 25 years ago.
It is also nice to hear what friends and former neighbors are doing. I know its been tough for the city of John Day but with the addition of a taxable cannabis dispensary and money from the state for Kam Wah Chung, I can see a rebound in your future.
