Plea hearing delayed in sex crimes case

CANYON CITY — A plea hearing for a Redmond man accused of traveling to John Day to have sex with an underage girl has been postponed.
Sae Hoon Kang is charged with two counts of third-degree rape, four counts of third-degree sodomy and two counts of second-degree sexual abuse. All the charges are felonies.
Kang was 27 at the time of his arrest at a John Day motel on Oct. 6. The alleged victim in the case, who is not identified in court records, was 15.
Kang was scheduled to enter a plea before Judge Robert S. Raschio in Grant County Circuit Court on Thursday, Feb. 3, but that hearing has been postponed. It is now scheduled to take place at 3 p.m. on March 3.
Grant County District Attorney Jim Carpenter is the lead prosecutor in the case, with assistance from Chief Deputy District Attorney Riccola Voigt.
Representing Kang is Portland defense attorney Graham C. Fisher. Fisher did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.
