JOHN DAY — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office arrested a John Day woman for third-degree theft at Ace Hardware in the late afternoon of Wednesday, Feb. 23.

Todd McKinley, the county’s sheriff, said Thursday that 27-year-old Ashlie R. Clark allegedly attempted to steal clothes from the hardware store after being driven to the store by Justin Scheidegger, 27, of John Day. According to McKinley, Oregon State Police later in the day arrested Scheidegger for driving under the influence of an intoxicant.

McKinley said third-degree degree theft is any item valued at less than $100.
