Two weeks after Election Day, the pool bond measure still has not been decided. As of the latest tally, Measure 12-80 was failing by six votes, but 16 ballots with questionable signatures remain to be opened. If the signature issues can be resolved, those votes will be counted and could be enough to swing the matter either way — if we don’t end up back where we started on Election Day: in a tie. In any case, we will report the outcome.

In this week’s edition of the Blue Mountain Eagle, you’ll read about the demolition of Gleason Pool, Grant County Commissioner Sam Palmer’s run for the U.S. Senate, John Day’s new city councilor and postseason runs by the Grant  Union/Prairie City softball and baseball teams.

In case you missed it, last week’s edition included stories on a wolf depredation on the Middle Fork of the John Day River, the county’s ongoing budget struggles, a proposed partnership between John Day, Burns and Lakeview, and a Grant Union athlete who won a state title in the 100 meter dash.

As always, I want to take this opportunity to thank our subscribers for their support. We can’t do this work without you!
