PRAIRIE CITY — Scott Officer will be the next mayor of Prairie City.

Results were still unofficial, but Officer was running well ahead of his competitor on election night, Tuesday, Nov. 8.

As polls closed and initial vote tallies were posted, results for the mayoral race in Prairie City were as follows:

Scott Officer: 270

Georgia Patterson: 147

Write-in: 35

Officer, a current city council member, was not immediately available for comment. He will be sworn into office in the new year.

Officer will succeed Jim Hamsher, who chose not to run for reelection.
