Scott Officer elected mayor of Prairie City

PRAIRIE CITY — Scott Officer will be the next mayor of Prairie City.

Results are still unofficial, but Officer appears headed for victory with the results at press time reported as follows:

Scott Officer: 279

Georgia Patterson: 147

Write-in: 35

Officer, a current city council member, was not immediately available for comment. He will be sworn into office in the new year and will succeed Jim Hamsher, who did not seek reelection.

Officer, 56, has served on the city council for four years.

In a candidate statement submitted to the Eagle, he said he would continue to work on updating the city’s infrastructure, particularly te water and sewer systems.

Officer also identified an outdated planning document and a housing shortage as issues that Prairie City needs to address.
