- A bronze statue of Sasquatch, like this one, was stolen from Stephanie Beard’s Baker City home in late November. Police recovered the statue recently.
BAKER CITY — The Grinch has already made a stop in Baker City, and it wasn’t to return toys.
This theft had little to do with Christmas, but it did involve a legendary beast said to roam Northwest forests.
A 3-foot-tall bronze statue of Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, was stolen recently from the front of Stephanie Beard’s home on Park Street near the Harvest Church.
“It was November 27, so I think it happened that night in the middle of the night,” said Beard, who has lived in the home for less than a year, having moved from a home on Foothill Drive.
The statue was a birthday gift, and Beard is offering a $100 reward for its return.
The bronze statue is heavy and was propped right against their house.
She has been speaking to neighbors but she hasn’t heard anything yet.
“I’m still keeping an eye out for it,” Beard said.
