- The Prospectors' Rylan Cox looks to settle his weight for a pinfall during the Grant Union Wrestling Tournament on Friday, Jan. 20, 2023.
The Grant Union wrestling team welcomed squads from across the Oregon wrestling landscape to Grant Union High School for a tournament on Friday, Jan. 20, and gained valuable experience in preparation for the boys and girls district tournaments in February.
While there was no placing, medals or trophies, the Prospectors still wrestled tough in their only home tournament of the season. Coach Andy Lusco was pleased with his team’s showing, calling their performance in the Grant Union Tournament the best he’s seen from his squad this season.
“I think we wrestled our best day at our home tournament. Our kids wrestled really hard in front of the home crowd, so I’m really excited about that,” he said.
The Pro wrestlers will get a five-day break before heading out to Burns to take on Crane and 3A wrestling powerhouse Burns in a series of duals on Wednesday, Jan. 25. Start time for the duals is 5 p.m.
