Letter: Hamsher works hard for city, county

To the Editor:

Thank you for your Jan. 11 article titled “Going to the Well,” detailing the well project in Prairie City. I have been a resident of Prairie City since December of 2018. For the past four years I have observed the work of Mayor Jim Hamsher on the water situation in our city. Many things contributed to the success of the project, and one critical aspect was Mayor Hamsher’s dedication to researching and taking advantage of grant opportunities from Business Oregon, the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other sources, as mentioned in the article.

What many may not realize is that, in his capacity as Grant County commissioner, Jim Hamsher has a similar focus on finding grant opportunities that can benefit our county. I would like to recognize him for the time and effort devoted to this pursuit. We are fortunate to have Commissioner Hamsher serving our county.
