KLAMATH FALLS — Six local kids took their talents on the road for the Oregon High School Rodeo Association rodeo in Klamath Falls Friday-Sunday, April 7-9. Grant County competitors left with six individual places across three events.
Prairie City High School’s Frankie Beam notched a first place finish in the second round of bull riding. Grant Union’s Jack Strong also competed in bull riding’s second round, placing fourth in the event.
Prairie City’s Sarah Clark kept momentum going for Grant County competitors, placing eighth in Round 2 of pole bending.
Grant Union’s Bailey McCracken had the busiest day of all competitors, placing 10th in the first round of barrel racing, eighth in the second round of barrel racing and second overall in pole bending.
Rowdy Israel of Dayville represented OHSRA as the queen during the event while also participating in breakaway roping. Dally Moore of Dayville participated in breakaway and goat tying and was the last Grant County competitor at the rodeo.
The six competitors have little time to prepare for their next event, which is in less than two weeks’ time. The next stop for the OHSRA is a rodeo in Hermiston that will take place from April 20-23.
