After a dominant win last weekend at Martinsville, John Hunter Nemechek comes to Talladega Superspeedway for the Ag-Pro 300 leading the driver standings in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Qualifying is set for Friday evening at ‘Dega, a 2.66-mile asphalt tri-oval where Xfinity Series racing has been held since 1992. Nemechek led 198 of the 250 laps last weekend and now owns a 21-point lead over Austin Hill in the standings. The Ag-Pro 300 is a 300-mile race, 113 trips around the superspeedway. The first two stages are 25 laps apiece with the final 63 laps making up the final stage.

Noah Gragson won last year’s race after 11 laps of overtime, beating Jeffrey Earnhardt by 0.131 seconds. Gragson is now a full-time driver in the Cup Series. Jeb Burton, the 2021 winner, is the only past visitor to victory lane in this weekend’s field.
Chandler Smith is third in the driver standings, 34 points behind Nemechek, while Riley Herbst (38 points) and Josh Berry (43 points) round out the top five. Hill has three wins this season, Nemechek has two, while Chandler Smith and Sammy Smith have won once each. Sammy Smith is seventh in the standings, 65 points behind.
Martin Truex Jr. has won this race a record three times (2004-06), while Joe Nemechek, Joey Logano and Elliott Sadler each took the checkered flag twice.
