The Oregon Department of Transportation reopened the road on the afternoon of Thursday, June 15, with reduced speeds through the slide area, the agency announced.
ODOT and Malheur County personnel have been working to clear the road since Sunday, when heavy rain triggered landslides that dumped tens of thousands of cubic yards of mud, rock and other debris across more than a mile of highway between mileposts 200 and 203.
Travelers are asked to keep an eye out for work crews, heavy equipment and increased truck traffic as the debris is hauled off to a disposal site.
