John Day City Councilor Ron Phillips steals a sign for the county library from city property, admits he did wrong and apologizes. Then he votes to keep Shannon Adair off of the vacant city council seat. When asked why he voted the way he did, he stated he couldn’t vote for someone that has an ethics complaint against them.
So in a public meeting he admits to theft, takes the stolen property to his house but will not vote for someone with an unproven, alleged ethics complaint. That is the most hypocritical thing I’ve observed on city council.
He should be charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

That kind of bad judgment should lead to his resignation.
