ATHENA — Athena artist Amy Kyle-Percy has been creating art and actively exploring her creative side since she was young. Having dabbled in many different mediums over the years, Kyle- Percy has been pursuing her interest in printmaking since last year.

“I have been doing something creative I’m sure ever since I could breathe,” she said. “I had a very creative mother — she was a very talented seamstress, and she encouraged my creativity from a young age.”

While experimenting with different methods, she’s found a preference to using the jigsaw style, a method that involves cutting up a carved design into individual pieces, which she has used when creating her latest prints.

“The actual printing can be done by using a press or by hand. I currently print by hand using an empty olive jar with the lid side down, and a wooden spoon,” she said.
