Rams blank Pros
JOHN DAY — The Regis Rams scored 28 points in the first quarter en route to a 58-0 non-league victory over the Grant Union Prospectors on Friday, Sept. 8 at Grant Union High School.
The Pros are now 0-2 on the season following a close 19-12 loss to Glide on Friday, Aug. 31. The team will be in action next at home against Nyssa on Friday, Sept. 15. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Tigers maul Locomotives
HUNTINGTON — The Dayville/Monument/Long Creek football team pushed their record to 2-0 following a 61-18 drubbing of the Huntington Locomotives on Friday, Sept. 8 in Huntington.

Tiger quarterback Josh Thomas paced the team with 228 passing yards and four touchdowns. Preston Fretwell finished the game with 351 rushing yards, a trio of rushing touchdowns and a receiving touchdown.
The Tigers are in action next on Friday, Sept. 15 when they take on Prairie City/Burnt River in a battle of undefeated squads at Monument High School. Start time for that game is 4 p.m.
Lady Tiger volleyball earns split
DAYVILLE — The Dayville/Monument/Long Creek volleyball team went 1-1 in matches played on Thursday, Sept. 7 and Friday, Sept. 8.
The first match was a 0-3 loss to non-league foes Condon at Dayville High School on Sept. 7.
The second match on Sept. 7 was a 3-1 league road win against conference foe Huntington. The Lady Tigers took a quick 2-0 lead in the match, winning the first two games by scores of 25-23 and 25-15.
The lady Locomotives would rebound to win game three 25-14 before being downed 25-18 in the fourth game to lose the match 3-1. The win is the Lady Tigers’ first of the season and puts them at 1-5 on the season.
The Lady Tigers will take the court next when they play Prairie City/Burnt River in Monument on Friday, Sept. 15. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Lady Pros stay busy, rack up wins
JOHN DAY — The Grant Union Lady Prospector volleyball team went 3-1 in matches over a three-day stretch to push their record to 6-2 on the young season.
A pair of home matches on Thursday. Sept. 7 and Friday, Sept. 8 both led to victories for the Lady Pros. On Sept. 7 the Lady Pros defeated league foes Weston-McEwen 3-1 with game scores of 25-16, 25-12, 22-25 and 25-14.
The next day, the Lady Pros dispatched cross-county rivals Prairie City/Burnt River 3-2 with game scores of 26-24, 16-25, 23-25, 25-23 and 17-15. The Lady Pros kept the momentum going at the Burns Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 9, defeating La Pine 2-0 with scores of 25-19 and 25-18.
The lone loss for the squad during the three-day stretch of games was a 0-2 loss to Trinity Lutheran in their final match at the Burns Tournament. The Lady Pros will hit the road for their next match against Crane on Thursday, Sept. 14.
Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.
