Irrigon 44 — Grant Union 20

The Grant Union football team welcomed Irrigon to town for homecoming on Friday, Oct. 6, and fell 44-20. The loss leaves the Prospectors at 2-4 on the season with an 0-2 record in league play.

The Pros will look for their first league win of the season when they travel to Boardman to play Riverside/Ione on Thursday, Oct. 12. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Echo 48 — Dayville/Monument/Long Creek 12

The Tigers of Dayville/Monument/Long Creek welcomed league foe Echo to Dayville for their homecoming game on the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 6. The Tigers ultimately fell 48-12, leaving them with a 2-4 record on the season and a 1-4 record in league play.

The Tigers won’t play again until Friday, Oct. 20, against an opponent that has yet to be determined.

Lady Panthers win three of four

The Prairie City/Burnt River volleyball team pushed their record to 14-8 on the season following a 3-1 showing over the past week.

The Lady Panthers defeated Harper Charter in straight games on Thursday, Oct. 5, in Harper with game scores of 25-9, 25-14 and 25-15.

The next day the team traveled to Damascus for the Damascus Tournament, finishing with a 2-1 record at the event. Their first match was an 0-2 loss to Umpqua Valley Christian with game scores of 25-20 and 25-13.

Their next two matches in the tournament were a pair of 2-0 wins against North Clackamas Christian and South Wasco County. Game scores against South Wasco were 25-20 and 25-16, while game scores against North Clackamas Christian were 25-23 and 25-20.

The Lady Panthers have one more regular season match left, at Huntington on Thursday, Oct. 12. Start time is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Lady Pros down Stanfield

The second-ranked Grant Union volleyball team continued their winning ways in defeating Stanfield 3-0 in straight games on Thursday, Oct. 5, at Grant Union High School. Game scores for the match were 25-19, 25-11 and 25-17.

The Lady Prospectors are now 18-6 on the season with a 6-1 league record. The team will take the court next on Thursday, Oct. 12, when they travel to Irrigon to take on the Lady Knights in what will be their final week of regular season play.

Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Lady Tigers fall to Grant Union

The Dayville/Monument/Long Creek volleyball team fell in straight games to Grant Union’s junior varsity squad on Friday, Oct. 6, at Dayville High School. The loss puts the Lady Tigers at 1-13 on the season with a 1-5 league record.

The Lady Tigers will have a chance to even the season series against the Lady Prospector JV squad when the teams have a rematch on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Grant Union High School. The match is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start time.

Grant Union soccer falls to Mac-Hi

The Grant Union girls soccer team played host to the Mac-Hi Lady Pioneers on Saturday, Oct. 7, and came up short, falling 9-1. The loss leaves the team winless on the season with a few more opportunities for their elusive first victory.

The Lady Pros will travel to play Echo/Stanfield on Saturday, Oct. 14, following a showdown with Riverside on Tuesday, Oct. 10. The game against Echo/Stanfield will get underway at 1 p.m.
