CANYON CITY — The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary at the Squeeze-In restaurant that took place on Sunday, Oct. 29.

Sheriff Todd McKinley said several gambling machines were broken into and a “significant amount of cash” was stolen.

The security system, he said, had been disconnected during the burglary.

“It appears (the suspect) knew what they were doing,” McKinley said.

Shawn Duncan, owner of the Squeeze-In, said she is “furious” about the incident.

“I hope they get caught and I hope they get in trouble,” she said.

The Squeeze-In, which for decades had been located at 423 W. Main St. in John Day, left that address last year and reopened on Jan. 6 at 295 S. Canyon City Blvd. in Canyon City.
