Anheuser-Busch (BUD) – Get Free Report just gained a new ally in its battle to win back the Bud Light customers who fled in mass quantities last year due to the backlash it faced over a failed social media campaign. Former President Donald Trump recently took to his social media platform Truth Social to sing a tune of praise for the struggling company and to steer his followers into forgiving the brand for last year’s controversy.

“The Bud Light ad was a mistake of epic proportions, and for that a very big price was paid, but Anheuser-Busch is not a Woke company, but I can give you plenty that are, am building a list, and might just release it for the World to see,” wrote Trump.

In his post, he also praised Anheuser-Busch for its financial contributions for farmers, veterans and students, and called it a “Great American Brand.”

“Anheuser-Busch spends $700 Million a year with our GREAT Farmers, employs 65 thousand Americans, of which 1,500 are Veterans, and is a Founding Corporate Partner of Folds of Honor, which provides Scholarships for families of fallen Servicemen & Women,” wrote Trump. “They’ve raised over $30,000,000 and given 44,000 Scholarships. Anheuser-Busch is a Great American Brand that perhaps deserves a Second Chance?”
Last year, Anheuser-Busch’s beer brand Bud Light lost its spot as the the top-selling beer in the United States after transgender social media influencer Dylan Mulvaney took to Instagram in April to promote the brand’s $15,000 giveaway. Many Bud Light consumers viewed the social media campaign as a political issue due to Mulvaney’s advocacy for transgender rights.

As a response, consumers boycotted the brand, which appears to have led to a decline in sales and revenue for several financial quarters. Some production plants that brewed Bud Light even reportedly shut down amid falling sales.
During the start of the boycott last year, Trump was initially silent on the controversy. In an interview with Sean Hannity, singer Kid Rock, who previously voiced his support to boycott Bud Light, alleged that he and Trump confronted Anheuser-Busch CEO Brendan Whitworth about Bud Light’s failed social media campaign at a UFC fight in November last year, claiming that they had “a great conversation.” Rock has since revealed that he is done boycotting the brand.
According to an April 14, 2023, financial disclosure that was filed to the Federal Election Commission, Trump owns between $1 million to $5 million in Anheuser Busch stock. So it is no surprise that Trump will have an interest in Bud Light’s recovery from last year’s controversy.
After a year of turmoil, the beer brand has recently been ramping up its efforts to glue together its shattered image. On Feb. 6, Bud Light released its Super Bowl commercial called “Easy Night Out” where it uses humor and fantasy to promote the brand, which is a stark difference from its Super Bowl commercial from last year where it had more of a sophisticated tone.
“We wanted to get back to the humor the brand has been known for,” said Bud Light Vice President Todd Allen while speaking with CNN. “Consumers are expecting us to bring a little bit of light-heartedness and irreverence back, so we listened and that’s what we’re bringing forward.”
