JOHN DAY — The U.S. Bank branch at 129 N. Canyon Blvd. in John Day will close at the end of April.

“Clients received notification in late January that the Grant County branch would close on April 30, 2024,” U.S. Bank spokesman Jake Holtrop told the Blue Mountain Eagle. “We understand that the closure of any branch is a disruption for our clients and our employees, and we are working to make the transition as smooth as possible for all involved. The closure of this branch will not affect client accounts and there will be no interruption of service.”

According to Holtrop, clients’ banking preferences and behaviors are changing, including a rapid migration toward digital and mobile banking platforms, and a desire for greater simplicity.

“As we evolve along with our clients, we are reevaluating our physical footprint, and in some instances, consolidating branch locations in select markets,” he said. “Although we are closing some branches, we continue to open and enhance others, as well as rapidly enhancing our digital capabilities.”

Holtrop said the company is proud to have served its clients at the Grant County branch “and hope that we can continue to serve the community at our other locations, including more than 125 locations across Oregon, and through our award-winning digital and voice offerings.”

In a letter from the bank to branch customers, customers were told they can find a full list of U.S. Bank branches and ATMs at usbank.com/locations.

Customers with questions regarding their accounts or the branch closure can call 888-713-9299.

The John Day branch opened in 1968, according to Holtrop.
