12 Grant County players make High Desert League All-Star teams

The High Desert League’s 2023-24 basketball season has concluded and a number of Grant County competitors were named to the 1A league’s boys and girls West All-Star teams in recognition of their accomplishments on the hardwood.
Grant County’s lone first team All-Star selection on the girls squad is Prairie City/Burnt River senior Brooke Teel. Fellow Lady Panthers Jaycee Winegar, a senior, and junior Reece Jacobs were named to the High Desert League West Girls All-Star second team.
Dayville/Monument had two Lady Tigers named to the High Desert League All-Star second team in senior Jasmine Athens and junior Sierra May.
The boys High Desert League west All-Star first team features a pair of Prairie City/Burnt River seniors in Tucker Wright and Wes Voigt. Long Creek saw one of its own named to the west All-Star team in junior Pun Leadsuk.
The second team was dominated by Grant County, which made up four of the five team members. Prairie City/Burnt River sophomore Sawyer Quinton was the Panthers’ only selection to the West All-Star second team.
Dayville/Monument had a pair of second team selections in seniors Wyatt Suchorski and Ethan Thompson. Long Creek picked up its second West All-Star team member with senior Charles Kreamier named to the second team.
The teams were announced during a winter sports awards ceremony at the Prairie City School cafeteria on March 4.
