KIMBERLY — An 81-year-old Redmond man died in a motorcycle crash Monday afternoon on Highway 19 between Picture Gorge and Kimberly, according to the Oregon State Police.
The operator of the Harley-Davidson FXD was identified as Louie Warren. The Oregon State Police released his name on Tuesday afternoon, following notification of his next of kin.
Oregon State Trooper Will Blood, who was investigating the incident, said it was unknown whether speed was a factor in the fatal crash, though he added there was no indication drugs or alcohol were involved.
The incident occurred around milepost 109, about four or five miles south of Kimberly near Longview Ranch, Blood said. OSP troopers responded after a call was made around 2:49 p.m. on Monday, March 18.
”He failed to negotiate a curve and went off the road … down a small embankment,” Blood said.
Blood advises motorists and motorcyclists to be aware of corners while driving along the highway.
”Take corners at an appropriate speed,” he said.
This story has been updated to include the name of the motorcyclist.
